Capital Kosher BBQ Competition

🔥 Sunday, August 30, 2026

Capital Camps & Retreat Center | Waynesboro, PA
(75 minutes from Baltimore & DC areas)

The Capital Kosher BBQ Competition showcases the best in real BBQ our community has to offer- Not bubbe’s braised brisket slathered in sauce or grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.

Smoked meat, cooked with precision of timing and temperature, over wood and charcoal. If you know, you know. If you don’t (yet), just wait.

This competition brings together skilled pitmasters, curious food lovers and kosher observant folks, all with the aim of pushing our culinary expectations to a higher level. And all under the supervision of the Star K.

Community Tasting Event Begins @ 12p.m

The event was held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at Capital Camps and Retreat Center located in Waynesboro, PA (CCRC is 75 minutes from the Baltimore and DC areas, nestled in the beautiful Catoctin mountains.)

The DMV Kosher BBQ Brisket Competition is here to show that real BBQ-smoked meat, cooked slowly at low temperatures, over wood and charcoal, is not only fully possible within the bounds of Kashrut, but should be the norm at EVERY BBQ meal and event. This competition brings together skilled pitmasters from our own communities and beyond, curious food lovers and kosher-keeping folks to push our culinary expectations to a higher level.
